What Are My Options For Missing Teeth?
When a patient comes to me with a missing tooth or multiple missing teeth, I am always saddened by the fact that the patient’s natural tooth could not be saved, but I’m happy the person came to Modern Touch Dental for smile restoration. We offer smart, totally custom solutions and same-day dental treatment whenever possible, maximizing patient convenience, comfort, and confidence. A missing tooth not only disrupts a person’s smile and the confidence that goes along with a great grin, but it also negatively impacts a person’s health if not addressed right away. Problems like shifting and bone loss begin to deteriorate the other teeth in a patient’s mouth and difficulties with everyday activities like talking and eating may quickly become problematic.
A missing tooth or teeth may be restored with a temporary or removable dental device like a partial denture, or with a permanent solution, like a dental implant. Every patient’s mouth is different, so the best solution for one person may not even be a possibility for another. Here are a few of the options we review with our patients who are missing teeth:
Flexible Partial Denture
Best For: Patients who want a removable solution for missing teeth, patients whose teeth adjacent to the missing tooth are not healthy or strong enough to support a dental bridge, patients who are not good candidates for dental implants
Cost: $1897 – $2742*
Time to Complete: 4-6 weeks
Lifespan: Partial dentures will last anywhere from 5 to 10 years with proper care.
Dental Bridge
Best For: Patients with healthy teeth on either side of the missing tooth/teeth, patients who want a fixed solution for concealing gaps caused by missing teeth
Cost: $3,600+*
Time to Complete: Results can be seen same-day with temporary bridge placement!
Lifespan: Dental bridges will last up to 20 years with proper care.
Dental Implant
Best For: Patients who have healthy gums and bone density and want a permanent solution for missing teeth, patients who desire minimal maintenance for their replacement tooth/teeth
Cost: $3,600 – $4,500 per implant* (includes crown and abutment)
Time to Complete: Results can be seen same-day with temporary crown placement!
Lifespan: Dental implants can easily last 20+ years and are considered a permanent solution that often never requires replacement.
These are just a few of the common ways to restore a patient’s smile after losing a natural tooth or multiple teeth. Remember, tooth restoration is NOT just cosmetic and it’s entirely customized. It’s important to seek professional help as soon as possible if you have had an extraction or loss of a tooth due to accident or natural causes. If you have a dental emergency related to a missing tooth, we will make every effort to see you same-day. Just call!
