Why Do You Use Digital Radiographs Instead of Film X-Rays?
We couldn’t be Modern Touch Dental if we didn’t use the most modern image-capture technology. That’s why we use digital radiographs at both our Whitefish Bay dental office and our Hartland dental office. A visit to the dentist in 2016 shouldn’t have you worrying about “radiation exposure” and “long appointments”. With digital radiographs, our patients avoid both!
The image-capture experience for the patient at Modern Touch Dental is greatly improved.
The sensors in the patient’s mouth are electronic and images are instantly “read” by the computers in the room, eliminating the wait time for a film to develop and reducing the duration of the appointment overall.
Because the sensors are electronic, the patient is also exposed to significantly less radiation than traditional dental x-rays – up to 90% less!
The digital nature of the radiographs also allows the patient and dentist or hygienist to enjoy higher quality images of the mouth.
Because they’re being viewed on the screen, the dentist or hygienist has the ability to zoom in, edit contrast to highlight a problem area or crop in on a specific part of the picture without damaging the original.
Similarly, they can compare a patient’s old images with new images side by side on-screen. Identifying new problems, like a cavity, even a small one, has never been easier.
If a patient is referred to a specialist, the dentist can safely and smartly email the digital radiographs to the new office without using chemicals to develop film or paper to send them via snail mail.
If you’re concerned about radiographs for any reason, don’t hesitate to ask us questions! We’re here to make sure you feel totally comfortable with every part of your appointment!
